Common questions

My steps differ from the Health app or another app

iPhone and Apple Watch both count steps, and apps combine them differently. In CompanionSteps, open Settings › Step counting to compare the sources and choose how they're combined.

A day abroad is split in two

Days are normally cut at midnight in your phone's current time zone. CompanionSteps finds days in another time zone from the workouts you recorded there and counts them at local midnight. Turn this on or off in Settings › Travel.

Voice cues are silent

By default CompanionSteps only speaks through headphones, Bluetooth earbuds or your car, never the phone or Watch speaker. Change this in Settings › Voice feedback › Only with headphones.

Weather isn't showing

Weather needs an internet connection and location access (Settings › CompanionSteps › Location). Past weather uses where your recorded walks started; days with no recording nearby use your current area.

A walk's map is shorter than the walk

Some workouts, for example ones Apple Watch detected automatically, start GPS late. The path details show how much of the workout the route covers.

Restore or cancel Pro

Restore: open the Pro screen and tap Restore purchases. Cancel: Settings › your name › Subscriptions on your iPhone. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Delete my data

CompanionSteps keeps no data on any server. Deleting the app removes its settings and caches. Workouts it saved stay in Apple Health until you delete them there.
